Charlottetown, PE – Outlawpositivcharg, under the command of driver Terry Gallant, opened up his 2012 campaign with a winning score in the Saturday night feature event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The two-time Governor’s Plate Champion, owned by Fred Lamont of Calgary, stopped the clock in 1:58 flat after sitting mid-pack early in the race. The eight-year-old pacer sealed the victory by four and half lengths over a fast closing Oakrock Almighty with Ron Matheson. Bet the House completed the triactor for driver Brodie MacPhee.
The fastest mile of the night went to Pembroke Fella who dazzled the timer in an impressive 1:57.4 romp for owner-trainer Donald Sweet of O’Leary. Sweet had Corey MacPherson handle the driving duties for his third win from six starts this season.
Julaire, a newcomer to the East Coast, was able to chase down Warrawee Jade in deep stretch to win the trot division in 2:02. Marc Campbell did the driving for owners Gerard Baldwin, Ambrose Laybolt and Michael Bailey. Duvar Road, with Norman Myers in the bike, was third.
