Private Joke and JK Special Listed as Favorites in Thursday Top Class
Charlottetown, PE – Six horses will compete in the Thursday night feature event at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Post time is 7pm. JK Special, with Walter Cheverie in the bike, and Private Joke, driven by Marc Campbell, are listed as the morning line favorites.
JK Special went a big trip last week when the mare was first over at the half and was just beaten by a length through the stretch. Race analyst Les MacIsaac believes the Joe Smallwood trainee can win. “She appears to be sitting on a win and with any kind of trip luck at all she could get it.”
Meanwhile, Private Joke could give Marc Campbell a win in the Drive for Charity event. Campbell drove the daughter of Western Ideal to victory in 1:58.1 in her last start for trainer Earl Watts. It won’t be easy. Here is a look at the power-packed field. Mach Raiser(pp1), Black Dahlia (pp2), Dreaming (pp3), Private Joke (pp4), General Luckypercy (pp5), JK Special (pp6).
The Drive for Charity kicked off on Sunday at Red Shores Summerside with Mark Bradley scoring big with four winners for Noonan Petroleum and their charity the Children’s Wish Foundation. The busiest drivers booked Thursday are Kenny Arsenault with eight, Marc Campbell with 10 drives and Mike Stevenson is down to pilot six horses. Bradley could add to his total if he maps out a win on any of his five drives on the night.
