Big League Wins Red Shores Feature in 1:58.4
Charlottetown, PE – Big League, with Mark Bradley in the bike, won the feature event Saturday in an impressive 1:58.4 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. The winning horse is owned by Jonah Moase of Cornwall and trained by his father Neil.
Bradley put the four-year-old horse into high gear on route to the half which was clocked in 59.2 after Joseph Michael marched the field through the opening frame of 29.2. The three quarters flashed by in 1:29.2. Cancum, with Kenny Arsenault, and Oakrock Almighty, under the command of Ron Matheson, tipped three-high to join the leader and finish second and third respectively. The 6-1-3 triactor paid $480.90.
Caliban Hanover delivered as the post time favorite winning the Open Trot for driver Ron Gass in 2:03.1. Zip the Lip was second for Brodie MacPhee while JK Queen and Walter Cheverie rounded out the top three.
It was the first win of the season and 33rd of his career for Caliban Hanover and owner Wendell MacDonald of Cornwall.
Jason Hughes recorded a driving double on the program.
